Seeking a Principal Engineer to provide support to our federal government client in Aiken, SC.

The Contractor will define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems. Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely and cost-effective results. Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasksResponsibilities:
Apply technical experience in the field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, to resolve complex problems Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise. Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientific principles Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through one's area of technology. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identified by management Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscripts form to customers, colleagues and management Occasionally prepare reports for external publication Enhance expertise in the field through leadership in local technical societies Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articlesAdditional Duties:
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to the client Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, construction support, walkdowns, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Single Line Drawings; Electrical Equipment Lists; Control System Design; Control Schematics and Connection Diagrams; Electrical Equipment Specifications; Bulk Material Specifications; Circuit/Raceway/Wiring/Connection Design; Grounding; Heat Tracing; Fire Detection; Short Circuit Calculations; Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis; Load Flow Analysis; and Electrical System Sizing Calculations Engineering services shall be provided using client's processes and procedures Programmatic guidance will be provided by the clientWork Hours:
Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. The client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes client holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager. The anticipated Work Schedule is from Mon- Thurs 6:45am-5:15pm EST.Area Security Access:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. Subcontractors must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance withDOE / NNSA.
An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.Qualifications:
Required:
Candidates must demonstrate ten (10) years of design experience in the nuclear or chemical process industry and possess a working knowledge of NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA requirements Candidates must have experience using software (preferably ETAP) to generate electrical system calculations Candidates must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOE "Q" security clearanceEducation:
Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience OR MS with 8+ years' experience OR BS with 10+ years' experience or more OR BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer inElectrical Engineering Preferred:
Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years Previous SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility experience and familiarity with the processes and procedures for providing engineering support to SRS facilities Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) softwareNOTE:
