JOB SUMMARY
The Electrical Designer provides technical design support for electrical engineering projects, assisting in the development of design deliverables within a multi-discipline environment. This role performs design assignments of moderate complexity and supports engineering teams in producing accurate and compliant design documentation. The position contributes to project execution by developing drawings, incorporating engineering direction, and ensuring consistency with project specifications and applicable standards.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The Electrical Designer prepares and modifies electrical design drawings and related documentation using 2D CADD and 3D modeling tools. Responsibilities include supporting the development of electrical design packages, coordinating with engineering disciplines and project stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with project requirements and applicable codes and standards. The role assists with material take-offs and provides support for procurement activities by preparing and reviewing design documentation. The designer also supports construction activities by incorporating field changes, assisting with RFIs, and updating drawings as needed. Additional responsibilities may include participating in field walkdowns, interpreting existing systems, and assisting in the development of updated design solutions. The position supports project execution by ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
WORK HOURS
A standard 40-hour work week is expected. Additional schedule details will be provided by the client. Overtime may be required to meet project deliverables.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education:
Associate degree in a related technical field required. Experience /
Skills:
Minimum five (5) years of related design or drafting experience Working knowledge of electrical design principles and practices Experience supporting engineering or EPC projects Familiarity with applicable codes and standards Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications Strong communication and teamwork skills Candidate must possess experience with: Preparation and modification of electrical design drawings 2D CADD and/or 3D modeling tools Electrical systems including wiring, grounding, lighting, and raceways Material take-offs and design documentation Supporting engineering and construction-related design updates
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
U.S. Citizenship required Ability to work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements Strong attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting DOE or Federal Government projects Nuclear design experience under NQA-1 requirements Proficiency with CAD tools such as MicroStation or Smart3D Practical field or construction experience Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments
