Position Overview The EWP Technician III is a senior-level drafting professional responsible for completing complex residential and commercial engineered wood product layouts with minimal supervision. This role applies advanced product knowledge and technical expertise to develop accurate, efficient, and code-compliant designs for large residential developments and complex commercial projects. The position also serves as a technical resource for the EWP team by providing mentoring and technical support to EWP Technician I and II team members. ________________________________________ Essential Functions Perform all duties and responsibilities associated with the EWP Technician II role. Complete complex residential, multi-unit, and commercial engineered wood product layouts independently. Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and structural details to develop advanced EWP designs. Prepare detailed drawings including section views, structural details, and complete bills of materials. Review layouts for constructability, accuracy, and compliance with manufacturer specifications and building codes. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to EWP Technician I and II team members. Assist with troubleshooting challenging layouts or structural design questions. Support larger commercial or high-volume residential projects requiring advanced layout solutions. Coordinate with sales teams, customers, and operations to resolve complex design issues. Maintain strong working knowledge of engineered wood products, building codes, and design software tools. Assist EWP leadership with prioritizing workflow on complex or high-impact projects. Ensure designs meet company drafting standards and customer expectations. Follow company drafting procedures and safety guidelines. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support IWP's Vision, advance its Mission, and uphold the Organization's Values. ________________________________________ Leadership Responsibility Serve as a senior technical resource for the EWP drafting team. Provide mentoring and technical support to EWP Technician I and II team members.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience Minimum seven (7) to ten (10) years of drafting or EWP design experience preferred. Advanced proficiency with PrebuiltML X, AutoCAD, or similar design software. Demonstrated ability to independently complete complex residential and commercial projects. Strong knowledge of engineered wood products and structural design principles. ________________________________________ Core Competencies Advanced ability to read and interpret construction drawings and structural specifications. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. High level of attention to detail and design accuracy. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Ability to mentor developing technicians. ________________________________________ Education High school diploma or equivalent required. ________________________________________ Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position operates in a professional office environment with frequent interaction with internal teams and customers. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, see, hear, and communicate. The role requires frequent use of hands and arms and the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
