VDC Technician (MEP) - Milwaukee, WI Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) Technician to join a growing MEP contractor in the Milwaukee area. This role will support project teams by developing and coordinating 3D models, improving prefabrication workflows, and helping drive efficiency across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Key Responsibilities Create and maintain detailed 3D BIM models for MEP systems using tools like Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure accurate system layouts and constructability Perform clash detection and coordination to resolve spatial conflicts across trades Produce installation drawings, spool sheets, and prefabrication deliverables Assist with point cloud data integration and as-built modeling when applicable Support coordination meetings and communicate model updates and changes to stakeholders Ensure models align with project specifications, codes, and company standards Help drive prefabrication and modular construction initiatives through accurate modeling Maintain organized project files and documentation within BIM workflows Qualifications 2+ years of experience in VDC/BIM, drafting, or MEP design Proficiency in Revit (required) ; experience with Navisworks and AutoCAD strongly preferred Understanding of MEP systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, or electrical) Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Experience with clash detection and model coordination preferred Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Effective communication and ability to work in a team environment Preferred Experience Experience working for an MEP contractor or subcontractor Familiarity with prefab/modular construction workflows Exposure to laser scanning or point cloud technology Associate's degree or technical training in drafting, construction technology, or related field Why Join This Team Work with a well-established MEP contractor with strong local presence Opportunity to grow within VDC/BIM and construction technology Collaborative, team-focused environment with exposure to complex projects Competitive compensation, benefits, and long-term career growth Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
