CA About the job About Redwood Materials Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we're delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have. Power Electronics Intern The Power Electronics Engineering Intern will support the development of next-generation Pack Managers for Energy Storage Systems (ESS) utilizing recycled batteries specifically for AI Data Centers. You will be responsible for the detailed power electronics design, prototyping, and preparing for high-volume production of efficient, cost-effective, and technologically leading-edge power converters. Working with high-voltage systems and high-power levels, this role requires a deep understanding of soft-switching DC-DC converter topologies to ensure maximum performance of the product. This is a Summer 2026 position.Responsibilities Will Include:
Design and develop high-voltage, high-power (~1500V, ~50kW) DC-DC resonant converters for recycled battery integration. MS or PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics Deep theoretical and practical understanding of Resonant DC-DC converter modulation schemes (e.g., frequency modulation, phase-shift control) Expertise in magnetics design using Ansys Maxwell for transformer modeling, including inductance matrix extraction and detailed winding/core loss analysis Proficiency in simulation tools such as Simulink and LTspice for transient and steady-state circuit analysis Hands-on experience with Altium Designer for multi-layer PCB layout, specifically for high-power and high-voltage creepage/clearance requirements In accordance with California pay transparency laws, the salary range for this position is listed below. Actual compensation may vary based on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and skills.California Pay Range:
