Lockheed Martin (LM) Space is seeking a Chief Engineer (CE) to lead a space system demonstration program. Your CE role at LM Space is crucial for guiding the team through concept definition, development, production, and operations. This role requires a high degree of flexibility, agility, and adaptability to navigate the inherent complexities and uncertainties associated with this classification. Reporting to the Ignite Line of Business (LOB) chief engineer, you will be the chief technical authority working closely with the PM, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure the successful delivery of a integration mission capability that meets enterprise strategic objectives.
In this capacity you will:
Operate as engineering lead for the Demo. Driving technical engineering decisions and execution across all program areas and throughout the program lifecycle Be the primary engineering authority on the program, responsible for 100% mission success Own the technical baseline, technical issue resolution, and chair Failure Review Boards (FRBs), Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), and Critical Integration Reviews (CIRs) Ensure that standard engineering processes are used on the program and are appropriately applied for the specific program needs Serve as the delegate program Executive Certified Principal Engineer (ECPE) and direct the Certified Principal Engineer (CPE)/Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE) hierarchy and product certification for the program Approve any waivers to engineering processes in coordination with the appropriate functional department Be the technical conscience of the program Support Ignite Line of Business (LOB) CE strategic direction
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education Experience integrating subsystems and components to meet systems requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members, leadership, subordinates, and customers Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve technical issues/challenges and investigations Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet program goals and objectives. Willingness to mentor junior engineers
Desired Skills:
Prior experience as a CE, Systems Engineering lead or certified RSE, CPE or ECPE Extensive knowledge and application of engineering processes and Command Media, especially Mission Assurance Class C and D processes Experience developing or working on optical or laser systems Demonstrated experience with aerospace software, electrical and mechanical design, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation Aptitude for writing top-level system requirements with little definition or guidance Experience defining mission/system-level architecture and ConOps Familiarity with STK and/or mission analysis Experience with hardware design and development Experience with SV test integration planning, execution, and troubleshooting including late replace, repair, or rework Experience with SV GNC especially pointing and jitter control Experience with products that include optical integration, alignment, and calibration Experience leading or interfacing with small to medium subcontracts Experience across full program lifecycle, from initial development through post-launch support Experience in Mission Assurance Class C/D, IRAD, or "go-fast" development environment Experience with Agile methods Experience with Cameo or MBSE Modeling Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance

Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $139,600 - $246,100. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $160,500 - $278,300. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
