Ability to obtain
Secret Overview:
This position is available for entry-level applicants through mid-career professionals. Graduates are encouraged to apply. This role is perfect for a recent graduate or an early-career developer (up to 3-5 years of experience) who loves hands-on coding, rapid prototyping, and solving complex, real-world data challenges. No prior defense or Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) experience is required—we will teach you the domain knowledge if you bring the passion! The Integration Engineer supports IS4S by leading the integration, testing, and validation of mission equipment, electrical subsystems, sensor payloads, software-defined radio capabilities, and embedded hardware across research, development, prototyping, and operationally relevant environments. This role bridges systems engineering, electrical integration, embedded software, and RF/signal processing to deliver advanced capabilities to the warfighter. The position requires hands-on technical execution, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and the ability to translate operational needs into integrated hardware/software solutions. In this role, you will be part of a small, collaborative, research and development-oriented team of professional scientists, engineers, and developers. You will contribute to one or more of the areas described in the Key Responsibilities.
Key Focus Areas:
Systems Integration & Engineering Support integration of electrical, RF, PNT, EW, and embedded subsystems, including mission equipment, sensors, and computing/networking components. Implement system requirements, interface definitions, and verification strategies. Support system architecture development, trade studies, and technical decision-making. Conduct system-level diagnostics, root-cause analysis, and performance assessments. Ensure alignment between hardware constraints, algorithm behavior, and mission requirements. Integration & Fabrication Integrate and route wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, power modules, and embedded control hardware. Design, fabricate, and assemble machined or additive manufactured (AM) parts. Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts. Develop wiring diagrams, build procedures, and technical data packages. Embedded Software & SDR/RF Engineering Develop, integrate, and test embedded software for RF and mission-critical applications. Implement signal processing algorithms on SDR platforms (USRP, HackRF, etc.). Develop and/or implement AIML algorithms on embedded computing hardware. Design applications for RF signal capture, characterization, analysis, and exploitation. Work with Linux-based embedded systems, device drivers, and RF. Testing, Evaluation & Field Support Plan and execute laboratory, SIL/HIL, OTA, and field test campaigns. Develop test plans, procedures, and verification matrices based on requirements. Execute simulation-based testing in cyber, EW, and PNT-denied/degraded environments. Support field events, customer demonstrations, and evaluation activities (up to ~15% travel).
Required Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and capable of obtaining/maintaining a DoD security clearance Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering / Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. Strong programming skills in Python or C/C++. Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts. Basic understanding of common electrical test equipment (Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Digital Analyzers, etc.) Experience with Linux environments. "Nice to have"
Experience:
3-5+ years of relevant experience in systems integration, software development, electrical engineering, embedded systems, or RF/SDR development. Experience with AIML methodologies (model training and evaluation, latent space data reduction and exploration, clustering methods, etc.). Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Git, and configuration management workflows. Strong documentation skills for technical reports and engineering artifacts. Understanding of RF fundamentals, modulation, and signal processing concepts. Experience with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and RF test equipment. Hands-on experience integrating electrical and embedded hardware systems. Experience with SDR platforms (USRP, HackRF, etc.). Experience with rapid prototyping, low-rate production, or R&D laboratories. Knowledge of PNT systems, GNSS, or EW techniques, or contested/degraded navigation environments. Experience analyzing RF signals. Soldering, PCB assembly/re-work, harness fabrication, connector termination.
