POSITION SUMMARY
This position leads the Supplier Quality Development Engineers (SQDE) for the Magna Powertrain (MPT) team in Troy, MI. The Supplier Quality Development Electronics Engineering Lead ensures electrical components (PCBA, SMT, sensors) meets quality standards by auditing suppliers, managing PPAP/APQP and driving corrective actions. Will process standardization with respect to launch programs by supporting SQDE projects principally in MPT North America. The individual will ensure compliance while focusing on flawless launch initiatives for MPT North America Programs.ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct and oversee various supplier related audits on potential, new and current suppliers to MPT Supplier Capability Assessments, Run-at-Rates, Manufacturing Capability Audits, Control Plan Audits, etc., and take necessary actions as required. Monitor supplier performance (Incidents, PPM's, COPQ) and develop / implement effective action plans to improve poor performing suppliers. Ability to identify supplier improvements (process, quality system, etc.) and ensure effective actions are taken to improve KMIs Issue supplier performance PC's and follow through to completion. Disposition supplier PPAP's and 8D's (5-Why). Manage Cost Recovery process with suppliers. Coordinate Supplier Change Requests. Support manufacturing locations on supplier related performance issues (conduct 8D verification, review containment process). Conduct supplier quality procedure / process type training and awareness activities with suppliers (SRM, PPAP, etc.). Support new program launches, supplier localization, resourcing projects, etc. Practice and maintain integrity while following Magna's Charter and Constitution. Follow and uphold Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF). Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost. Develop effective partnerships with suppliers' leadership and MPT functional leaders to improve supplier capability through supplier assessments, clear and concise communication, feedback and training. Maintains and reviews pass-through characteristics. Facilitates the development plans for process control, capability and sustainability at the supplier. Work with SQD Team to oversee and ensure suppliers APQP activities align with program launch events and deliver against associated milestones and metrics. Ensures potential risks to plan are managed and communicated to the appropriate function. Assists in identifying, communicating and resolving early-stage supplier quality problems. Work with new and existing suppliers to ensure quality system implementation and continuous improvement. Tracks the improvement and initiates countermeasures if progress does not meet MPT expectations. Coordinate prescribed assessments of potential new suppliers and provide a recommendation to the Purchasing group. Ensure proper approval and documentation practices are followed for any process, material or tooling change at suppliers. Ensure suppliers provide thorough information to support development of new projects including PFMEAs, risk limitation and contingency planning, Process Control Plans and Process Capability Studies. Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner. Health & Safety responsibilities: Understand applicable Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures and rules. Involved in accident / incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions. Reviews safety incidents, memos, etc. with employees. Train new employees. Correct unsafe acts and conditions. Ensure use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Assess employee safety performance as part of performance appraisal. Create a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge. Develop and maintain a responsive and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers. Treat everyone with dignity, trust and respect. Bachelor's Degree Required. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical) preferred. Self-motivated, drives for improvement, strong communication skills.WORK EXPERIENCE
3- 10 years of experience in Supplier Quality Development 6
- 10 years of experience in Powdered Metal and Heat Treatment 2
- 4 years of experience in Plant Operations 3
- 5 years electronics experience required and a strong technical knowledge of electronic assemblies Experience in the follow commodities would be a plus (Aluminum Castings, Iron Castings, Forgings, Electronics, Stampings, Power Metal, Fasteners, Injection Molding) Experience in Metallurgical/Metals background Proficient in
ISO/TS16949
Proficient in problem solving (8D, 5-Why, Drill Deep and Wide, Shainan, Six Sigma, etc.) Manufacturing experience in molding, stamping, assembly, rubber extrusions, plating Proficient in AIAG core tools: PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, MSA and SPC Proficient in Word / Excel / PowerPointKEY BEHAVIORAL TRAITS FOR SUCCESS
