Full Job Description About Our Company:
Founded in 2005, Safety Power is a leading Canadian cleantech company. We are a leading supplier to the data centre industry. Our equipment removes nitrogen oxides, particulates and other harmful emissions most commonly for diesel engines used for backup power; end users of our systems include Amazon, Google and Microsoft. To support our extensive growth, we have just opened a new production facility in Michigan, and we are looking to hire a key member of our team that will ensure all manufactured equipment meets quality standards. Job Overview The Electromechanical Quality Specialist will be based at our production facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan and will be responsible for ensuring all manufactured equipment meets company quality standards, engineering specifications and operational performance requirements before shipment to customer sites. This role combines manufacturing quality assurance, troubleshooting and field support responsibilities including occasional travel to customer sites throughout the U.S. to assist with repairs, installing, and commissioning of equipment as required. Initial 2-week training for position will be based out of our facility in Toronto, Canada. Responsibilities Perform final inspections and quality verification of finished product prior to shipment. Ensure all units are manufactured according to engineering drawings, electrical schematics and company specifications. Conduct functional testing and validate system performance. Effectively maintain quality records, inspections reports and testing documentation. Identify manufacturing defects, assembly inconsistencies, or compliance issues and coordinate corrective actions, including troubleshooting and repair of non-conformances. Work closely with production, engineering, and field service teams to improve product quality and consistency. Installation of wiring and sensors. Repair damaged or malfunctioning equipment in the field at customer sites when required. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and control system issues. Verify systems meet applicable safety and compliance requirements. Support root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions. Assist with testing, calibration and commissioning procedures. Ensure production repairs at the plant facility and at customer sites are completed to company standards. Work in accordance with all health and safety policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Completion of a minimum two-year diploma program or degree from an academic American institution in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related technical technology fields. Equivalent skilled trades certification or designation in electrical trades, industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, or automotive repair will also be considered. Experience in manufacturing quality control, field service, industrial equipment maintenance, or equipment commissioning preferred. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Excellent troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and control systems skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in both manufacturing and field environments. Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the United States and Canada as required. Must have a valid U.S. passport, with ability to legally enter Canada for business travel. Familiarity with hand tools and electrical multimeter. Proficient computer skills including MS Word and Excel. Work in accordance with safety protocols. Time management/organization skills. Previous experience working at heights. Job Demands & Working Conditions Comfortable working in a Manufacturing environment. Working remotely at customer sites (infrequently as needed). Working extended shifts when required. Working at height (boom/scissor lift or ladder) with safety harnesses or fall protection equipment. Maintaining balance, awareness, and coordination in high-risk areas. Operating machinery or tools while elevated. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Troubleshooting low voltage control panels, with proximity to medium and high voltage.
