This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex system design, integrate hardware and firmware components, and contribute to pioneering technological advancements. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize electronic and control systems. Diagnose failures in servomotors, drives, encoders, resolvers, and motion control systems. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot communication networks, including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, and industrial fiber networks. • Work with Safety PLCs (SICK, Pilz, Rockwell, Siemens, etc.), ensuring that safety circuits, light curtains, E-stops, and gate switches operate correctly. • Maintain and program PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial PCs to ensure stable and optimized operation. Assist in developing control logic modifications to improve reliability, quality, and production throughput. Interpret electrical schematics, automation diagrams, servo tuning parameters, and OEM documentation. Troubleshoot and replace proximity sensors, photoelectric sensors, encoders, pressure transducers, load cells, and other instrumentation on the mill. Perform calibration and functional checks of measurement systems critical to product quality. Perform preventive maintenance activities on electronic, automation, and control components. Conduct routine inspections of control cabinets, drives, PLC modules, fans, cooling systems, and wiring. Identify potential system failures and recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability. Respond to production breakdowns and restore operations quickly using structured troubleshooting methods. Collaborate with operators, millwrights, and mechanical/electrical maintenance teams to diagnose complex issues. Support equipment changeovers, startups, and commissioning tasks. Participate in upgrades involving servo systems, control networks, safety systems, and automation platforms. Assist with the installation and integration of new OEM equipment or modernization projects (control retrofits, drive replacements, etc.). Maintain updated backups of controller programs and ensure proper version control. Document troubleshooting activities, program changes, and electronic maintenance tasks. Maintain accurate wiring diagrams, PLC/HMI/drive parameter files, and network layouts. Report irregularities in control systems and propose long-term corrective actions. Develop and implement a sensorization plan for critical signals within the production process and for asset monitoring (including temperature, amperage, power, voltage, vibration, etc.). Program, troubleshoot, and optimize ABB industrial robots Diagnose and resolve faults in robotic systems, including motion control, communication, and safety interlocks. Support commissioning, startup, and integration of robotic cells within mill operations (handling, welding support, palletizing, etc.). Perform robot path optimization and cycle time improvements to increase throughput and reliability. Maintain and back up robot programs, parameters, and system configurations. Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement continuous improvement projects involving robotics. Ensure proper operation of robot safety systems (zones, light curtains, interlocks, safe torque off, etc.). Oversee the inventory of electronic spare parts available at the plant, utilizing appropriate administrative tools to manage them effectively. Lead automation projects for production processes and develop electronic poka-yoke systems. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field required. 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in steel processing, tube mills, roll‑forming, or high‑speed manufacturing lines. Experience working with servos, VFDs, encoders, PLCs, safety PLCs, and motion‑control platforms. Proficiency with at least one major automation platform: Siemens, Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley, Beckhoff, or Omron. Hands-on experience with ABB robots and controllers (IRC5 preferred). Proficiency in ABB programming languages (RAPID) Experience integrating robots with PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens) via industrial networks Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, automation schematics, and OEM documentation. E•xperience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, servo tuning software, and network diagnostic tools. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a production environment. Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal). Experience with Seuthe, Dimeco, or Mair equipment is highly preferred.
