Job Description
The Electronics Specialist will work individually and as a member of a team installing, servicing, or repairing equipment at Marlin or onsite at a customer location. Work assignments are varied, and of moderate scope and complexity. Reporting to the Field Service Manager, the Electronic Specialist will: Perform testing, troubleshooting and repair of electronic controls. Provide guidance to production personnel to resolve technical issues. Interpret technical engineering documents, such as schematics, outline drawings and test plans. Familiarity with embedded software preferred Diagnose and repair equipment in the field and product returns. Write service reports from findings in the field. Frequently contact customers regarding service needs of Marlin product applications in OEM plants and field support. Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and 3rd party vendors to understand field issues, identify contributing factors, and provide solutions while promoting the value of Marlin Technologies and their product offerings. Work closely with field service team to develop and administer processes to better manage projects or programs. Willing to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor. Utilize business software system to process RMAs submitted by customer. Work with customers in their facilities Clearly and effectively document issues as needed for resolution Conduct "8D" or similar process for problem research, resolution, and reporting Performs other duties as assigned/required The qualified candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline plus 1-year related work experience - OR - completion of an associate degree or technical certificate program in electrical or electro-mechanical engineering, engineering technology or related engineering discipline and 4+ years of previous relevant hands-on work experience. Must be comfortable independently evaluating, diagnosing, and troubleshooting field failures, using a variety of tools and research, and often conceptualizing and implementing novel end solutions. Possess a working understanding of machine controls and operation including the interrelationships of electronic circuits, motors, hydraulics, oscilloscopes, schematics, and embedded software. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. Compensation is highly competitive and is based on relevant experience.
