Job Description

The Printed Electronics Engineer will support the design, construction, and testing of membrane switches, switch components, and other printed electronic products. This role works closely with the development team to provide design input for improving existing materials and creating new products. The position will also help coordinate, track, and manage projects and prototype orders from initiation or release through successful completion or transition into production, ensuring deadlines are met. Associate's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Design or related field required. Experience with CAD tools (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Altium, or similar) or graphic design software (Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, etc.) required. Experience in art or blueprint work preferred. We are adding a Printed Electronics Engineer to our growing team! The Printed Electronics Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining drawings and switch map layouts used in printed electronics applications, such as membrane switches, flexible circuits, or printed sensors. This role will translate product requirements into production-ready work orders and engineer functional switch maps to ensure reliable performance, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction. Converts customer supplied files to Solid Works and stores them in the customer folder. Reviews customer requirements for missing information and usability of the files; contacts customer service with usability issues and questions. Maintains customer documentation by file name and date received. Resolves minor design issues that need to be addressed for the membrane switch build process; works with the internal customers to resolve design issues that need approval, making design recommendations as needed to allow for the success of the printing process. Inspects drawings for quality and accuracy. Designs and develops CAD drawings/switch maps for printed electronics, including circuit patterns, graphic overlays, and supporting documentation. Collaborates with internal teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and production requirements. Modifies and updates CAD files and switch maps based on customer requirements, design changes, or process improvements. Generates and manages accurate design files, bills of materials, and engineering change notices. Determines unit price for each order and prepares an estimate of manufacturing costs and communicates the quote to the customer. Performs design-for-manufacturability reviews and work with internal teams to validate artwork and switch map compatibility with manufacturing processes. Supports prototype builds, including design validation, functional testing, and troubleshooting. Maintains compliance with relevant industry standards and internal quality guidelines. Provides technical documentation and communicate design intent clearly to production, purchasing, and quality teams. Stays current on printed electronics materials, processes, and technologies. Knowledge, skills and abilities crucial to success in this role will include: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work effectively as a team player, helping others when needed. Ability to work with others to meet tight deadlines. Ability to work independently without continued support from others.
