Job Description
Hiring Range:
$72,000-$86,000 The Energy Management Analyst supports campus energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives through energy data analytics, building automation system (BAS) optimization, and continuous performance improvement of HVAC, central plant, and energy management systems. This role focuses on monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing building system performance to reduce energy consumption, improve occupant comfort, and ensure reliable system operations.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Facilities Management, Building Sciences, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience supporting building automation systems, HVAC controls, or energy management in a multi-building or campus environment. Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Alerton, Johnson Controls, Tridium Niagara, or similar systems.Degree Equivalency Clause:
Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.- Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
- SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
- A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
- (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
- (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
- (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
- Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
- Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with energy analytics, utility data analysis, or fault detection and diagnostics (FDD) tools preferred. Experience with energy analytics, fault detection, or continuous commissioning tools. HVAC or controls-related certifications (e.g., BAS vendor certification, CEM, HVAC controls training). Experience supporting energy efficiency projects or utility incentive programs .- Monitor, analyze, and optimize energy use across campus facilities using BAS, metering platforms, and utility data.
- Operation, commissioning, and optimization of building automation and energy management systems, including sensors, controllers, meters, and control sequences.
- Identify system performance issues, alarms, and inefficiencies; coordinate corrective actions with Facilities Operations, Maintenance, and controls contractors.
- New building commissioning, retro-commissioning, and ongoing/continuous commissioning efforts.
- Perform functional testing of HVAC and related systems to validate design intent and operational performance.
- Review monthly utility billing data and conduct energy analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and savings opportunities.
- Generate energy performance reports, dashboards, and documentation to support decision-making and energy conservation measures.
- Energy benchmarking, measurement and verification (M&V), and utility incentive or rebate programs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to facilities staff related to BAS-controlled systems and energy optimization strategies.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, utility partners, and internal stakeholders on system upgrades, integrations, and energy initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
