Job Description
The Energy Inspector ( HERS Rater , Rating Field Inspector) is responsible for enhancing the energy efficiency and sustainability of residential properties. This individual will have expertise to guide builders in understanding how the design of their homes contributes to overall energy performance and identifying areas for improvement. They will conduct thorough inspections of newly constructed homes and existing homes, utilizing state-of-the-art tools and techniques to assess insulation, air sealing, ducts and other critical components that impact energy usage. They will provide actionable recommendations to meet the requirements of different above-code energy performance programs, such as, Home Energy Rating System (HERS), ENERGY STAR for New Homes, and National Green Building Standards (NGBS). This role demands a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous learning in the ever-evolving residential energy efficiency trade. Essential Functions Conduct thorough energy inspection of residential properties to assess energy performance. Evaluate the insulation, windows, and doors for air leakage and thermal performance. Test Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems for efficiency and safety. Identify energy-saving opportunities and provide detailed reports with recommendations using the software provided. Work closely with builders and their employees to explain inspection processes and results. Collaborate with clients to recommend effective energy-efficient solutions. Stay updated on industry regulations, energy codes, and best practices for above-code home performance. Educate clients on the benefits of energy efficiency and how to implement recommended changes. Self-managed and motivated with attention to details. Good understanding of residential construction. RESNET Certified Rating Field Inspector with documented field experience RESNET Certified HERS Rater with documented field experience
