Job Description:
ECC Field Rater & Certification Specialist (Field + Office Role) Position Overview We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented ECC Field Rater & Certification Specialist to provide both field inspections and in-office certification processing for residential energy compliance programs. This dual role combines hands-on field testing and verification with administrative responsibilities including data entry, program compliance documentation, and certification submission for Title 24, ENERGY STAR, and utility incentive programs. The ideal candidate is both field-competent and computer-savvy, able to manage job site responsibilities while also ensuring accurate and timely completion of certifications and program requirements.
Field Responsibilities:
  • Perform ECC inspections and diagnostic testing for new construction (multifamily and/or residential)
  • Verify compliance with California Title 24, ENERGY STAR, and other energy efficiency programs
  • Travel daily to multiple job sites as needed
  • Communicate directly with builders, superintendents, and trades on-site
  • Identify deficiencies and educate field teams on corrective actions
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with builders and project teams
  • Provide daily reporting on inspection status, schedules, and site conditions Office /
Certification Responsibilities:
  • Enter and process HERS certifications and compliance documentation
  • Upload and manage data across applicable energy program platforms
  • Learn and utilize various software programs and office technologies efficiently
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all project files and submissions
  • Track project statuses, deadlines, and program requirements
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure timely certification completion
  • Assist in maintaining organized digital records and workflows
  • Support scheduling and operational coordination as needed
Position Requirements:
  • Active
HERS & ECC
Rater Certification (required)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (AA Degree preferred)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in HERS testing, energy compliance, HVAC, or construction
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn multiple software platforms
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current insurance
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with ENERGY STAR, Title 24, and utility incentive programs
  • Familiarity with construction processes, job site workflows, and HVAC systems
  • Experience working with production home builders or multifamily projects
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both field and administrative work
  • Ability to communicate clearly with builders, trades, and internal teams
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in both field and office settings
  • Comfortable transitioning between physical job site work and computer-based tasks
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment
  • Ability to climb ladders and access attic spaces
  • Comfortable working in active construction environments
