Job Description

Civil/Structural SME Engineer (Engineer - Level 2) Juno Beach, Florida, Standard Office Hours (EST) 12-Month Contract, up to $42.28/hour We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural SME Engineer to join a leading Engineering & Construction team supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects across North America. This position will provide structural and geotechnical engineering expertise for wind, solar, battery energy storage (BESS), transmission, substation, and clean fuels projects from concept development through commercial operation. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and support project execution by providing technical oversight, design reviews, constructability input, and risk mitigation strategies across multiple concurrent projects. Key Responsibilities Provide structural and geotechnical engineering support for renewable energy and power infrastructure projects. Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments for foundations, steel structures, concrete systems, and associated civil infrastructure. Review and redline structural engineering submittals to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. Support project teams in resolving critical technical issues impacting project cost, schedule, or execution. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, EPC contractors, and third-party engineering firms throughout project lifecycles. Maintain and promote engineering best practices and contribute to technical knowledge-sharing initiatives. Assist with technical due diligence activities, execution risk assessments, and mitigation planning. Support lender and independent engineer reviews during project financing phases. Review manufacturing and fabrication non-conformance reports and provide technical recommendations. Participate in annual specification reviews and incorporation of lessons learned into engineering standards. Evaluate supplier performance and provide technical feedback for continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate external engineering consulting resources when required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred. Minimum 5-7 years of structural engineering experience, ideally within renewable energy, utility, or industrial infrastructure environments. Experience supporting wind, solar, or battery energy storage projects strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to independently review structural engineering packages and construction documentation. Strong understanding of structural systems including foundations, steel, and reinforced concrete structures. Proficiency interpreting and applying engineering codes and standards including
IBC, ASCE
7, ACI, and AISC. Experience reviewing structural analysis models and construction drawings for adequacy and constructability. Familiarity with engineering document management systems such as Bluebeam, SharePoint, and Unifier. Strong vendor coordination and third-party engineering management experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment. Understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and construction materials behavior is considered a plus. Ability to travel within North America approximately 10-20%.
