Have analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives and implement solutions Are able to work and effectively interact with colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams both internally and externally of different experience levels and backgrounds including industry and military personnel Are willing and able to travel occasionally to attend meetings and/or field tests at other government contractor sites (approx. 30-35 days per year) Are comfortable working in closed area facilities Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written Have initiative, interest in skill development (both your own skills and the skills of others), and the flexibility to accept assignments of varied scope and skill Hold a Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. Citizenship You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you... Have a graduate degree in engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience Have previous experience with Navy and/or Air Force strategic reentry systems (i.e., ICBM and/or SLBM weapon systems) Have an extensive background in some or all of the following categories: Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), aerothermal analysis, aerodynamics, aerospace vehicle dynamics, flight test engineering, vehicle functional performance analysis, and/or requirements management/verification. Have previous design and/or analysis experience for related missile and reentry subsystems Have experience working with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) laboratories, plants, and partner organizations. Have experience with stockpile or developmental nuclear deterrent systems, including experience working with flight test articles such as Joint Test Assemblies (JTAs) Experience with bench, laboratory and flight body instrumentation, including data collection, processing, and analysis. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
