8+ Years Job Description We are seeking an experienced OBD System Sr Engineer to join a leading automotive organization developing next-generation electric vehicle platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining and managing system-level On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) architecture within a software-defined vehicle environment. Responsibilities Define and maintain OBD system architecture, monitor philosophy, readiness logic, and fault reaction behavior. Translate regulatory and vehicle-level requirements into structured and traceable system requirements. Collaborate with software, controls, validation, and systems teams to ensure complete implementation. Support monitor execution conditions, diagnostic event handling, DTC strategies, and vehicle-state dependencies. Ensure scalable integration of OBD functions into software-defined vehicle architectures. Drive requirements decomposition into software, controls, and validation deliverables. Support HIL, SIL, vehicle testing, and release verification activities. Analyze system-level issues and drive cross-functional resolutions. Participate in prototype and serial development activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in automotive systems engineering, diagnostics, powertrain controls, or electrified propulsion development. Strong knowledge of OBD-II regulations, monitor strategies, DTC concepts, MIL behavior, and readiness requirements. Experience with software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures and cross-domain interactions. Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as Jama, DOORS, or Polarion. Familiarity with UDS diagnostics, ECU interactions, CAN and Ethernet communication. Experience using MATLAB/Simulink, CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, and
ETAS INCA.
Knowledge of HIL, SIL, vehicle validation, and release testing processes. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREV). Familiarity with powertrain controls, thermal systems, and energy management systems. Experience working in complex software-defined vehicle environments. Additional Information Onsite role requiring 4-5 days per week in the office. Occasional travel may be required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. No visa sponsorship available.
