Job Description
We are looking for Mid-Level Power Systems Engineers to join a collaborative consulting team serving clients across North America. In this role, you will manage and execute generation and transmission projects, oversee budgets, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, while working under the direction of senior staff. Responsibilities include advanced modeling and analysis of power networks, supporting studies related to system economics, market intelligence, grid resilience, steady-state and dynamic stability, short circuit analysis, and renewable integration. Key Responsibilities Perform engineering studies focused on power systems and energy market economics. Conduct market analysis and gather relevant industry data. Develop and validate models for steady-state, transient stability, and fast transient studies. Lead technical studies for generator interconnections, including feasibility, system impact, and deliverability assessments. Ensure compliance with ISO/RTO requirements and methodologies. Provide technical guidance to team members on generation (including inverter-based resources), transmission, and modeling principles. Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality to ensure successful delivery. Collaborate effectively within the team and maintain strong client focus. Identify and mitigate technical, practical, and economic risks.
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of experience Master's degree with 4+ years of experience Doctorate with 2+ years of experience Experience conducting and managing technical studies such as resource planning, transmission planning, and generation interconnection for ISOs, utilities, or consulting firms. Proven technical expertise and strong analytical skills. Ability to travel to client sites and industry meetings as needed. Skills & Tools Proficiency in power system and market modeling tools (e.g., PLEXOS, GridView, PROMOD, Aurora, PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, Aspen, PSCAD, MATLAB). Understanding of ISO/RTO market structures and pricing mechanisms. Advanced Excel skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. Work Model Remote position for candidates based in California, with hybrid options available at select office locations.
