Job Description

Control Engineer - Renewable Energy SCADA & ControlsDescriptionThis role is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and building control systems that improve visibility, performance, and reliability across critical energy assets. The engineering team supports utility-scale renewable energy projects by designing and implementing SCADA and controls solutions that enable safe, efficient, and data-driven plant operations.

The position offers the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of renewable energy control systems, from design and development through implementation, commissioning, and technical support. It is well suited to an engineer who is comfortable working cross-functionally and enjoys contributing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Position OverviewThe Control Engineer supports the continued development of the organisation's SCADA and controls platform for utility-scale Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Wind projects.

This role will work closely with project management, engineering, and field teams to deliver monitoring and control systems through detailed design, procurement support, programming, implementation, and commissioning. The position is full-time and includes travel of up to 20%.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop SCADA and control systems for utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, and Wind projectsConfigure SCADA platforms, RTUs, power plant controllers, and related networking/IT equipmentProduce core technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, point lists, logic diagrams, and HMI layoutsProgram and commission PLCs, SCADA servers, historians, and HMIsPrepare project deliverables such as commissioning documents, as-builts, operator manuals, and training materialsSupport installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and client technical support for monitoring and control systemsCoordinate communication setup including interfaces, protocols, IP addressing, and firewall requirementsWork with project management to track progress, risks, and mitigation actionsWhat's OfferedThe organisation offers the opportunity to work on high-impact renewable energy infrastructure in a collaborative and technically driven environment. Candidate ProfileBachelor's degree in an Engineering-related field such as Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science3-5 years of relevant controls, SCADA, or technical engineering experienceExperience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, HMIs, and commissioningExposure to renewable energy, including utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, or Wind, is highly desirableKnowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, or Structured Text is advantageousExperience with Inductive Automation Ignition is a plusFamiliarity with servers, databases, and web-based applications is beneficialUnderstanding of serial and Ethernet-based communications, including RS-232, RS-485, and TCP/IP networking, is preferredStrong analytical, technical, and interpersonal skillsComfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentAbout the OrganisationThe organisation is continuing to expand its renewable energy SCADA and controls capabilities across Solar PV, BESS, and Wind markets.
