Job Description
Role Overview Entry•to mid-level engineering positions (Levels I-III) play a key role in supporting technical initiatives within an energy-focused consulting environment. Individuals in these roles will build and apply their technical expertise, contribute to project delivery, and develop toward subject-matter specialization over time. Engineers will work under the guidance of senior team members and contribute to a variety of analytical, technical, and project-based activities.
Responsibilities may include:
Performing power system modeling and analysis Supporting planning activities for transmission and/or distribution networks Assisting with technical assessments and market-related studies Conducting financial and economic analyses Developing technical documentation such as reports, proposals, and presentations Applying engineering fundamentals related to electric power systems Reviewing technical materials and documentation Creating scripts or tools for data processing and analysis Supporting project evaluation efforts Utilizing simulation and forecasting tools Maintaining organized project documentation and records Contributing to protection and relay coordination tasks Supporting system coordination and wide-area analysis studies Functional Areas Work may be aligned with one or more of the following focus areas: Grid and resource planning Operational and business process improvement Protection engineering, substations, and automation Technology integration and deployment Digital systems and data enablement Basic Qualifications Education requirements by level:
Level I:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field with a focus on power systems
Level II:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with a power systems emphasis
Level III:
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field with specialization in power systems Familiarity with common productivity software tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentation tools, diagramming software) Strong written and verbal communication abilities Ability to collaborate effectively in team-based environments Self-driven with the ability to manage tasks independently Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical thinking skills Preferred Qualifications Advanced proficiency in productivity and data tools Exposure to programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, C-family languages, R, JavaScript, etc.) Experience with power system modeling or simulation platforms Familiarity with data visualization or business intelligence tools Previous internship, co-op, or professional experience in a related field Involvement in professional organizations or industry groups General understanding of the electric utility or energy sector Work Environment This role supports a flexible work structure, including a combination of in-office and remote work options, depending on business needs.
