Energy efficient buildings Field commissioning Energy modeling Full Job Description VCA Green is looking for an Energy Engineer to join our sustainability consulting team! You'll conduct site visits to evaluate building systems, develop and deliver client reports, build energy models, perform measurement and verification, and consult with clients on how to improve the energy performance of their buildings. This role is ideal for someone who has a deep understanding of building energy systems, is detail-oriented, passionate about building performance, and eager to help clients achieve their energy efficiency and sustainability goals. What You'll Do Perform ASHRAE Level I, II, and III energy audits and water audits for commercial, industrial, multifamily, and other various asset types. Conduct site visits to document and evaluate existing energy and water systems in buildings including but not limited to HVAC, envelope, water heating, lighting, building automation systems, steam systems, plug loads, irrigation systems, pumps, renewables, etc. Collect and evaluate project documentation including utility bills, as built drawings, energy models, and other relevant project information. Work with customers to understand existing systems, operating conditions, issues, goals, and to help identify opportunities for energy/water improvement. Draft, review, and revise technical / audit reports Perform technical calculations to quantify baselines, energy/water savings, cost savings, and relevant project metrics. Create energy models using IES-VE, EnergyPlus, or similar tools. Evaluate existing building systems and operations to identify retro-commissioning and maintenance opportunities. Develop and maintain Energy Management Plans. Develop Operations & Maintenance program and support implementation and training of facilities teams. Develop and support implementation of client decarbonization plans and electrification projects. Perform measurement & verification of implemented energy and water efficiency projects. Contribute to ongoing development and enhancement of project deliverables. Translate complex technical concepts into plain language for a diverse audience in order to build understanding and bridge knowledge gaps. What We're Looking For 3 years of experience in energy efficiency and building systems 1 year of energy modeling experience (IES-VE, EnergyPlus, eQuest) Bachelor's degree in Engineering; EIT (Engineer in Training) a plus AEE Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Ability to travel up to 50% of time Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders and stairs Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills About VCA Green VCA Green is a trusted sustainability consulting firm working with architects, builders, developers, and institutional organizations.
