This role will focus on performing advanced structural and electro-acoustic analyses of piezoelectric transducers used in transmit and receive configurations. This is a short-term, high-impact engagement (~320 hours, could turn into a longer term assignment) supporting early-stage engineering and modeling efforts for a specialized system operating in a mission-critical environment. Key Responsibilities
Perform static and dynamic structural analysis using FEA tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, ABAQUS, or similar
Develop and refine models to evaluate the electro-acoustic performance of piezoelectric transducers
Analyze system behavior for both transmission and reception modes in underwater conditions
Support modeling of multi-physics interactions (mechanical, electrical, acoustic)
Interpret simulation results and provide engineering recommendations
Document methodologies, assumptions, and results in clear technical reports (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team across mechanical, electrical, and systems domains
Adjust modeling approach based on findings and evolving program requirements Skills & Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field
5+ years of professional experience performing structural and dynamic FEA analysis
Experience with FEA platforms such as ANSYS, COMSOL, ABAQUS, or equivalent
Experience modeling piezoelectric materials and electro-acoustic systems
Experience translating engineering problems into accurate simulation models
Experience documenting technical analysis in a clear, structured format
Eligibility for US Secret Clearance Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a related technical discipline
Prior experience with underwater systems, sonar, or acoustic sensing technologies
Experience with multi-physics modeling (structural + electrical + acoustic coupling)
Familiarity with defense or aerospace applications
