Senior Building Enclosure Consultant /
Practice Leader Location:
San Antonio, TX (with regional travel) Overview A well‑established consulting practice based in San Antonio, Texas is seeking a highly experienced Building Enclosure professional to lead complex consulting assignments and contribute to the technical and strategic growth of the practice. This senior‑level role combines deep technical expertise with client leadership, business development, and mentorship responsibilities. Building enclosure consulting applies scientific principles and practical construction knowledge to deliver durable, high‑performing buildings. The successful candidate will help clients mitigate water intrusion, condensation, air leakage, energy loss, and long‑term material deterioration through thoughtful design, investigation, and implementation. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage complex building enclosure consulting projects from concept through construction. Serve as a senior technical advisor and primary point of contact for key client relationships. Contribute to and lead business development efforts, including strategic pursuit of new opportunities in the Texas and regional markets. Provide technical oversight and review of enclosure work performed by other team members. Mentor, train, and guide technical staff on both engineering judgment and consulting best practices. Prepare and review scopes, budgets, and proposals for a wide variety of building and client types. Perform detailed reviews of construction documents for technical accuracy, constructability, and risk. Evaluate existing buildings to diagnose enclosure failures and develop repair and rehabilitation solutions. Author clear, well‑reasoned reports outlining methodologies, observations, conclusions, and recommendations. Participate in design, pre‑construction, pre‑installation, and construction progress meetings as a senior enclosure expert. Conduct periodic site observations to verify compliance with contract documents, manufacturers' requirements, and industry standards. Travel periodically outside the San Antonio area for regional project assignments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related discipline, or equivalent depth of professional experience. 12+ years of progressive experience in building enclosure design, investigation, consulting, or construction. Demonstrated experience in senior technical leadership or practice‑level roles within a consulting environment. Required Skills and Expertise Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including client‑facing and presentation experience. Strong understanding of professional consulting practices, project economics, and risk management. Proven leadership ability with a collaborative, mentorship‑focused approach. Advanced project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and multi‑disciplinary coordination. Broad knowledge of building enclosure systems and assemblies across multiple construction types. Recognized technical expertise in building enclosure performance and failure mechanisms. Strong track record in business development, client retention, and market growth. Ability to represent the practice at industry events, conferences, and client engagements.
