The Superintendent•Civil will lead on-site execution of civil infrastructure and utilities projects, with a focus on water, wastewater, sewer, stormwater and treatment plant construction and maintenance. This role ensures safe, timely, and high-quality delivery by coordinating field crews, subcontractors, materials, inspections, and client communications while maintaining compliance with contract specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards. Key Responsibilities:
Direct and supervise daily field operations for civil and utility projects, including water, sewer, stormwater, and treatment plant works.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet project milestones and budgets.
Manage and mentor foremen and field crews; assign tasks and monitor productivity and workmanship.
Ensure compliance with safety programs, site-specific safety plans, and OSHA and environmental regulations; conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections.
Oversee quality control and assurance activities, perform regular site inspections, and enforce construction specifications and as-built documentation.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party inspectors; resolve conflicts and ensure timely work sequencing.
Maintain accurate project records including daily reports, progress photos, RFIs, change orders, and equipment logs.
Liaise with clients, engineers, permitting agencies, and local authorities to address field issues, obtain approvals, and facilitate inspections and commissioning.
Manage site-level cost control, track labor and materials, provide input for progress billing and change order justifications.
Lead start-up, testing, and commissioning efforts for treatment plants and utility systems; assist with turnover and closeout.
Implement and support preventative maintenance and plant operation procedures when required; provide on-site troubleshooting for system performance issues. Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of progressive field experience on civil and utility projects, with at least 3-5 years in a superintendent or senior field leadership role.
Proven experience with water, wastewater, sewer, stormwater, and treatment plant construction or operations.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, site layout, excavation, pipe laying, concrete, dewatering, and sediment/erosion controls.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and permitting processes related to utilities and environmental compliance.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; experience managing subcontractors and large field crews.
Proficient with project documentation tools and Microsoft Office; experience with construction management software preferred.
Certifications preferred: OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, Confined Space, and relevant wastewater operator or plant certifications.
Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites; ability to work outdoors in varying weather and on-call as needed. Benefits 100% Employer Covered Health Benefits
