Job Description
Responsible for day-to-day supervision, direction and coordination of contractors as well as equipment vendors in approved and planned capital projects. Responsible for the planning, scheduling, construction, installation and equipment validation of approved capital projects. Assist in facility design and implementation of new equipment. Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a Salary Exempt position. Management of Capital Projects. Work closely with the technical staff of equipment suppliers and customers, and screens alternative suppliers. Develop, scale-up, and commercialize new processes to minimize cost and maximize simplicity and flexibility in accordance with committed time and budget constraints. Plan, schedule and manage the implementation of capital project installation and final validation of equipment. Maintain competence in food technology and new equipment. Leads the engineering and contractor management efforts to start, schedule, implement, and complete assigned capital projects. Particular focus on delivery of project to approved schedule and budget. Communicates project changes, schedule, and budget affectively. Works alongside stakeholder departments to build scope, track progress, and deliver equipment to meet operational goals for the capital project. Project Planning/Execution. Responsible for developing scope of work, layout drawings, process flow, product mass balance and project budget for capital projects that are income producing. Responsible for overseeing detailed design and execution of project once capital is approved. Responsible for evaluation and purchase of properly sized process equipment and support equipment. Responsible for developing changes to building or new building additions to complement process needs or storage needs. Participates as a member of the Team . Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization. Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Physical Activities:
Must be able to work on a computer for an extensive amount of time. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, and Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. May present information to small or large groups. Must be able to work in various temperatures. Move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property. Must be able to stand or walk for many hours in any of our production facilities. May travel via car or plane to various work locations. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As needed in required environment.Travel:
Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites or customer visits, often requiring overnight stays. Approximately 25% travel.Technical Experience:
1+ years related industry experienceIndustry Experience:
Preference for related industry experience.Minimum Education :
