Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Chief Engineer to lead the engineering and maintenance operations for a soon-to-open dual-brand hotel featuring Tempo by Hilton and Homewood Suites. This role requires a hands-on leader who can build, train, and inspire a high-performing team while ensuring the property operates at peak efficiency, safety, and guest satisfaction from day one. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and a proactive leadership style suited for a modern, upscale hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of hotel engineering, maintenance, and facility operations for both brands Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of all systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety Lead pre-opening engineering efforts, including equipment commissioning, vendor coordination, and establishing maintenance standards Recruit, train, and mentor the engineering team; foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement Ensure full compliance with brand standards, local regulations, OSHA requirements, and safety protocols Manage departmental budgets, capital expenditures, and energy efficiency initiatives Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors and service providers Respond to and resolve guest and operational maintenance issues promptly and professionally Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance Partner closely with General Manager and department leaders to support overall hotel operations and guest experience Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5-7 years of progressive engineering/maintenance leadership experience in hospitality (hotel experience strongly preferred) Pre-opening experience is highly desirable Strong working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and energy management systems Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment Proven experience with preventive maintenance systems and asset lifecycle management Familiarity with Hilton brand standards is a plus Technical certifications and/or trade licenses preferred (e.g., HVAC, electrical) Proficiency with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer applications Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset Leadership Expectations Lead by example with a hands-on, service-driven approach Build a culture rooted in ownership, pride, and operational excellence Communicate clearly and effectively across all departments Anticipate issues before they arise and implement sustainable solutions Drive accountability while developing and empowering team members Maintain composure and decisiveness under pressure What We're Looking For This role is critical to the success of a dual-brand property that demands precision, consistency, and elevated standards.
