The Opportunity Reporting to the General Manager, The SMT Process Engineer is responsible for the coordination of planning, design, implementation of and maintaining circuit board assembly processes. While supporting engineering policies, standards, practices and procedures by performing assigned duties personally or through subordinates. This position provides support to the Production department specifically surface mount technology and initiates process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles. Responsibilities:
Create & support SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Programming to ensure accuracy of SMT machinery Design wave pallets, reflow profiles, wave/SMT/AOI programs and manufacturing improvements Supervise a team of engineers and technologists. Provide leadership to the Engineering and Maintenance groups through effective communications. Coordinate the planning, design and implementation of manufacturing related projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, on budget. Develop and implement engineering and technical policies, standards and procedures as required. Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products and technologies. Contribute with top management in formulating, establishing and achieving corporate policies, procedures, objectives and targets. Setting & monitoring Departmental budgets, objectives and goals. Participate in Management meetings. Drives Lean manufacturing implementation to ensure corporate objectives and goals are achieved. Drives product & process quality through root cause analysis and the immediate implementation of corrective actions. Provides training and mentoring for department employees in technical problem solving, Lean Manufacturing and other industry best practices. Directs personnel activities of department, such as recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments. Drives departmental communication and career development. Drives continuous improvement through Engineering involvement in QC Circle teams and other associated activities/events. Reviews appropriate publications, articles and abstracts to stay abreast of industry developments. Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Management experience at a technical level
  • Previous process experience in an electronics environment with SMT, PTH and mechanical assembly is preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and
J-STD-001
standards
  • Understanding of PPAP, APQP, Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA, and SPC is valued
  • Familiarity in Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is an asset
  • Project management skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Available for periodic overtime Who You Are Go Getter
