Job Description

Senior/Principal Engineer (PE)Tucson, AZ (Relocation support available)The RoleA well‑established, employee‑owned consulting firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Arizona PE) to provide technical leadership and project oversight on municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role offers a blend of hands‑on electrical and controls design, project management, and client‑facing leadership, with ownership of projects from planning through construction and commissioning.

Candidates not currently based in Tucson are encouraged to apply, as relocation assistance can be provided for individuals open to moving to the area.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead electrical and I&C design efforts for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, wells, and related facilitiesProvide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through construction supportDevelop scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedulesLead and mentor project teams, supporting the development of junior engineersServe as a trusted technical advisor to municipal clients, supporting long‑term relationshipsCollaborate closely with operators, contractors, and internal teams to ensure designs are practical, constructible, and maintainableContribute to business development activities and client engagementCandidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is a collaborative electrical engineering professional who enjoys balancing technical depth with leadership responsibility. They communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, are comfortable managing multiple priorities, and take pride in delivering high‑quality, real‑world solutions. A strong interest in mentoring others and contributing to team growth is essential.
Typical experience includes:
Electrical design for municipal water and wastewater facilitiesPower distribution systems, MCCs, and standby powerInstrumentation & Controls, including PLCs and SCADA integrationCoordination with operations staff and contractors to support constructible, operable designsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering7+ years of experience in electrical engineering design and construction projectsProfessional Engineer (PE) license in ArizonaWillingness to travel up to 50%, depending on project needsNice to HaveExperience in the municipal water and wastewater industryConsulting backgroundInstrumentation & Controls experienceProject management experience
