(GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity for the Chief Architect of Conceptual Design to join our Engineering team in support of multiple advanced unmanned systems, to include survivability and spectrum dominance, operational analysis and mission effects. We are seeking highly qualified individuals who have technical leadership experience in the design and development of state-of-the-art complex air vehicle systems. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated technical and management experience in the development of unmanned air systems across all phases of the lifecycle, especially in roles such as an Integrated Product Team lead, Chief Engineer, and/or Chief Architect. A breadth of technical knowledge and application in these areas is required, with a desired emphasis on air vehicle survivability technologies and practical application, aircraft system level design, deep experience with operational and mission analysis, and a wide breadth in mission systems technologies and integration. The candidate will functionally report to the Senior Vice President of Engineering and work hand-in-hand with program and functional leadership to support advanced aircraft systems development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and own end-to-end technical architectures across multiple programs that balance technical requirements, manufacturability, and lifecycle cost Translate business and program strategy, customer needs, and mission requirements into relevant system architectures and technology roadmaps Support critical enterprise programs by ensuring technical performance, affordability, schedule, risk, and producibility objectives align with defined mission architecture(s) Serve as the senior technical authority guiding trade studies, operations analysis, and design philosophy for existing and emerging advanced programs Drive cross-domain integration across multiple engineering disciplines within a program and functional engineering capacity in order to meet technical objectives Chair or provide executive oversight for engineering review boards, design reviews, and major technical milestones Identify, manage, and communicate technical risks and opportunities at the enterprise level Guide technology insertion strategies to help transition critical capabilities from development to programs of record Help foster partnerships with government and industry peers Provide technical leadership and support to proposal development Provide engineering Mentorship to help grow and mature future technical leaders Promote a continued strong culture of systems thinking and engineering rigor We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply. Job Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 20+years, Master's degree with 18+years or Ph.D. with15+years in engineering or a related technical field Must have demonstrated experience in technical leadership and program management on complex air vehicle system programs Knowledge and experience with the management of relevant aerospace subcontractors Must have excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to distill complex engineering topics into concise presentation materials, and present effectively to customers, internal stakeholders, and senior leadership 20+ years' of demonstrated technical and program leadership, with preferred experience with the following technical domain areas: Multi-spectral Air vehicle survivability principles and application RF Design, modeling, and Analysis of sensors, airframes and payloads Principles and application of unmanned air system payloads that serve a variety of mission functions Electronic Warfare System Integration & Test Contested communications and datalink protocols and solution Developing requirements, specifications, and solutions that meet those requirements An active DoD Top Secret clearance required U.S. Citizenship is required Job Category Engineering Experience Level Management Workstyle Onsite Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Salary Pay Range Low 194,890 Pay Range High 362,928 Travel Percentage Required 0% - 25% Relocation Assistance Provided?
