About the Company We are a well-funded stealth energy-tech company developing a breakthrough platform that delivers low-carbon power and decarbonization services to the U.S. grid. Backed by leading climate and energy investors, we are advancing toward our first commercial-scale project deployments in major U.S. power markets and are assembling a senior team of operators with deep utility-scale project development experience. About the Role We are hiring a Vice President of Commercial Development to lead the origination, structuring, and execution of our first utility-anchored commercial projects. This individual will own the deal - from utility and IPP relationship development, through site selection, interconnection, and offtake structuring, to financial close - and will work directly with the CEO to translate a strong technical platform into a bankable project pipeline. This is a high-impact, in-person role for an operator who has personally led project development at the gigawatt or hundred-million-dollar scale and wants to build the commercial engine of a category-defining energy company from the ground up. The role is based full-time on-site at our Campbell, CA headquarters. What You'll Do Own the end-to-end commercial development lifecycle: origination, term sheet, definitive agreements, and project FID Build and manage senior relationships with investor-owned utilities, public power entities, IPPs, RTOs/ISOs, and major industrial offtakers Lead site control, interconnection queue strategy, permitting coordination, and EPC selection in partnership with the engineering team Structure and negotiate offtake agreements (PPAs, tolling agreements, capacity contracts, services agreements) and supporting commercial frameworks Partner with finance leadership on project finance structuring, tax credit monetization (ITC, PTC, 45Q, 45V, 45Z as applicable), and equity/debt capital raises at the project level Build a multi-project pipeline across priority U.S. markets (ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, WECC) with a near-term emphasis on Texas and the broader Permian Basin region Represent the company with utility regulators, state energy offices, and industry stakeholders Recruit and lead a small, senior commercial team as the pipeline matures What You Bring 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial development of utility-scale energy infrastructure Direct, hands-on track record developing and closing projects in at least one of the following: utility-scale energy storage, carbon capture / carbon management, or utility-scale renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal) Demonstrated experience taking projects from greenfield origination through to NTP / financial close, including at least one project of $100M+ in total project cost Deep working relationships with utility resource planning, power supply, and procurement teams at multiple U.S. utilities or load-serving entities Strong command of PPA and tolling agreement structures, capacity markets, ancillary services, and bilateral offtake frameworks Working fluency in interconnection processes (LGIA, GIA, queue reform), site control mechanics, and major permitting pathways (FERC, state PUC, air permitting where relevant) Working knowledge of federal energy tax credits and project finance structures (tax equity, transferability, back-leverage) Comfortable operating with ambiguity, owning outcomes, and building process where none exists Strong executive presence; able to lead negotiations across utility C-suites, EPCs, and capital partners Willingness and ability to work full-time, in person, at our Campbell, CA headquarters Bachelor's degree required; MBA, JD, or technical graduate degree a plus Bonus Points Prior experience developing projects in ERCOT and/or the Permian Basin Experience structuring deals around natural gas combined cycle (NGCC) assets, behind-the-meter load, or carbon-attributed power products Existing relationships with hyperscaler / data center power procurement teams Experience monetizing 45Q tax credits or California LCFS credits Track record of building a commercial team from a single-digit headcount through scale Why This Role Founding-team-level scope, equity, and influence in a well-capitalized company A technology platform with a defensible moat and a clear path to multi-gigawatt deployment Direct partnership with a technical founding team that ships Anchored in one of the most consequential markets in the U.S. energy transition Compensation & Logistics Competitive senior-executive base salary Meaningful equity stake Full benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)) Full-time on-site at our Campbell, CA headquarters, with travel to project sites and utility counterparties as needed We welcome applicants from all backgroundsSimilar remote jobs
