Job Description:
We are looking for an Engineering Manager with 5+ years of experience to lead a team of 5-10 engineers while staying deeply hands-on in the code. This is a 50/50 split between IC work and people management - you'll build core infrastructure horizontally across the company while owning performance reviews, mentorship, and hiring decisions for your direct reports. The ideal candidate is a senior or staff-level engineer who wants to step into management without leaving the codebase behind. You'll work directly alongside the CTO to offload engineering leadership and drive execution across critical systems. Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience, with recent hands?on coding (last 2 years) . Background at a VC?backed startup (founding engineer or a company that raised ? $2.5 M) or experience at data?scale firms Degree from a top?30 US CS program (or an international degree with standout achievements). Full?stack capability : Node.js or Python plus Kubernetes . Willing to work on?site in SF five days a week . Eager to manage a team of 5-10 engineers , own performance reviews, mentorship, and conduct code & performance reviews. Proven ability to drive execution on ambiguous, fast?moving projects in a high?growth AI data?infrastructure environment. Experience with Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch .
