Job Description:
A leading aerospace manufacturer is seeking a highly technical Engineering Manager to provide hands-on leadership across CNC programming, metallic forming, tooling strategy, and production engineering within a complex manufacturing environment. This role will partner closely with Operations and Engineering leadership, serving as the technical authority across machining strategy, forming processes, manufacturability, and engineering execution. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in metallics, high-speed machining, tooling, and structural manufacturing within aerospace or defense environments. The Engineering Manager will support multiple Southern California manufacturing operations and play a key role in advancing machining capability, process stability, manufacturing efficiency, and cross-functional engineering execution.
Responsibilities:
Lead technical execution across CNC programming, tooling strategy, metallic forming, and production engineering activities. Establish and improve machining standards, programming methodologies, process controls, and manufacturing workflows. Provide technical leadership across large-part machining, spin forming, bump forming, and structural metallic manufacturing operations. Drive process optimization initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, repeatability, setup efficiency, and manufacturability. Support tooling design, process validation, and distortion mitigation strategies for complex aerospace components. Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Design Engineering teams to improve production execution and engineering integration. Mentor programmers and engineers while supporting technical development across the organization. Support ERP/MRP integration, engineering data management, and manufacturing system improvements. Coordinate technical execution across multiple programs, ensuring alignment to schedule, cost, and quality objectives. Support business growth initiatives, capability expansion efforts, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications:
Required B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field. 10+ years of experience within aerospace, defense, or advanced metallic manufacturing environments. 5+ years of engineering leadership or management experience. Deep expertise in CNC programming, machining strategy, and metallic forming processes. Strong experience supporting brake forming, bump forming, spin forming, and large structural metallic components. Advanced understanding of material behavior, distortion control, tooling, and manufacturability. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and CAD/CAM platforms such as CATIA, Mastercam, NX, or similar software. Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional coordination skills. U.S. citizenship required with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance preferred. Preferred Experience supporting aerospace, missile, launch vehicle, or hypersonic programs. Background with large aluminum structural components. Lean Six Sigma or structured continuous improvement experience. Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations. Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred.
Salary:
$160,000 - $175,000
