POSITION SUMMARY
We're hiring a Heavy Civil Project Manager based out of Riverside to own projects from pre-construction through closeout. This is a hands-on role for someone who runs the work, not just the paperwork. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in self-perform heavy civil operations including earthwork, underground utilities, grading, paving, structural concrete, and railroad & roadway improvements What you'll do: Manage heavy civil projects (grading, underground/wet utilities, structures, roadway, railroad) from buyout through final billing Own budget, schedule, and margin — track production against the estimate and act early when numbers move Run submittals, RFIs, change orders, and procurement; keep the field supplied and ahead of the work Partner daily with superintendents and foremen on means, methods, and sequencing Manage owner, agency, and subcontractor relationships Drive safety, quality, and compliance on every job Qualifications & Experience 5+ years managing self-perform heavy civil projects in California Proven command of cost control, scheduling, and contract administration Comfortable in the field and at the table — you'd rather solve it on site than email about it Proficiency with HCSS (HeavyBid/HeavyJob), Procore, Bluebeam, and Agtek a strong plus Bachelor's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field experience Valid California driver's license; ability to visit active project sites as needed Willingness to work in an in-office environment in Southern California and travel for job walks as needed Must be able to pass pre-employment physical/drug test/background check Work Environment & Physical Requirements Combination of office and active construction site work Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and fumes Required use of PPE on job sites (hard hat, safety vest, hearing protection, etc.). Movement between offices and job sites as needed Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and fumes Requires regular use of a computer, which entails looking at a monitor for extended periods; employer provides ergonomic workstations and rest breaks in accordance with California law Frequent use of keyboard, mouse, and telephone Occasional reaching, bending or lifting of small packages or files up to 20-25 lbs Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with applicable law.
