Job Description
Electrical Project ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead electrical construction projects across commercial, industrial and missioncritical facilities. The successful candidate will manage designbuild and traditional construction delivery methods, control budgets and schedules, ensure compliance with codes and client requirements, coordinate MEP and electrical teams, and deliver highquality, safe installationsfrom groundup builds and renovations to system upgrades, emergency repairs and commissioning.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, including new construction, additions, renovations and buildouts across commercial, multifamily, industrial, data center, manufacturing and institutional sectors.
Develop, monitor and control project budgets, forecasts and cost reports; manage change orders and owner/GC negotiations to protect project margins.
Create and maintain project schedules; coordinate sequencing with general contractors, trades and owners to meet milestones and critical path activities.
Allocate resources, assign tasks and supervise field leadership including superintendents, foremen, journeymen and subcontractors; provide technical guidance and mentorship.
Oversee procurement and material management: review longlead items, ensure timely ordering, track deliveries and minimize onsite downtime.
Ensure technical compliance and quality control for electrical systems including power distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, breakers, inplant distribution, grounding, control wiring and electrical drawings.
Manage lowvoltage systems such as fire alarm, access control, security, communications, fiber optic cabling and splicing, and structured cabling installations.
Coordinate design and constructability reviews with engineering, BIM/MEP teams and external consultants; provide valueengineering and constructability input during designbuild efforts.
Lead commissioning, startup and testing of electrical equipment and systems, including generator and UPS systems, battery installations, EV charging stations, solar PV interfaces and emergency power transfer.
Maintain safety and regulatory compliance with NEC, local codes, federal requirements and client standards; enforce site safety programs and conduct inspections.
Identify, evaluate and mitigate project risks; develop contingency plans and implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule and budget.
Prepare and deliver regular project reports, progress meetings, RFIs, submittal reviews and stakeholder communications to owners, architects and contractors.
Negotiate contracts, scopes, and subcontracts; manage vendor relationships and supplier performance.
Respond to emergency repairs and service requests, support facility maintenance activities and coordinate outages with operations teams when required.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, mentoring, and professional development for project teams.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical degree preferred; or equivalent proven experience in electrical construction project management.5+ years of progressive electrical project management experience in commercial, multifamily, industrial, data center or manufacturing environments; experience with designbuild and traditional delivery methods.
Demonstrated technical knowledge of electrical systems: power distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, breakers, grounding, instrumentation, generating systems, UPS and inplant distribution systems.
Experience with lowvoltage systems including fire alarm systems, voice/data/fiber optic cabling and splicing, access control and security systems.
Proven track record managing projects in sectors such as data centers, battery plants, semiconductor, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, healthcare, higher education, K12, municipal/public works, federal and retail/hospitality.
Strong budgeting, estimating and changeorder management skills; comfortable using project financial and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Procore, Viewpoint or equivalent).Working knowledge of NEC, local codes, MEP coordination, OSHA safety standards and commissioning procedures.
Leadership experience supervising superintendents, electricians, journeymen and subcontractors; excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation skills.
Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician certification preferred; PMP, CCM or equivalent project management certification a plus.
Experience with solar installations, vehicle charging stations, highvoltage systems and emergency power distribution is highly desirable.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, singleline diagrams, schematics and specifications.
Strong problem solving, risk management and decisionmaking skills; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as required; willingness to support occasional emergency or afterhours work.
