About the Company Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Processes, Aluminum Casting and Machining About the Role The Engineering Manager provides strategic and hands on leadership for engineering operations at a manufacturing plant supporting aluminum casting and machining. This role leads a technically strong engineering team and owns the planning, design, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes across the foundry and machine shop. You will drive measurable gains in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity by applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and disciplined problem solving. You will also bring a practical, can do culture to the department while ensuring robust, repeatable processes and strong documentation controls. Responsibilities Lead and develop the Engineering Department, managing a team of approximately 15 engineers and setting clear priorities, standards, and expectations. Provide strategic leadership and technical direction for engineering operations, with strong on site presence to support daily plant needs. Lead New Product Introduction from concept through launch, ensuring process selection, tooling readiness, and on time delivery to customer requirements. Establish and maintain engineering standards for design and manufacturability, including manufacturing methods, machine selection, gating systems, and cost effective value added decisions. Drive cross functional collaboration with Production and Quality to ensure efficient, manufacturable, scalable tooling and processes. Champion continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, improving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity metrics. Oversee PFMEA development, risk mitigation, and process validation to ensure robust and repeatable manufacturing performance. Ensure compliance and continuous improvement of the
ISO 9001
2015 quality management system, including oversight of nonconforming materials, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness. Oversee warranty claims, product returns, and rework activities to ensure timely resolution and prevention of recurrence. Govern engineering documentation and controls, including CAD standards, tooling and fixturing prints, CNC program verification, and production documentation implementation. Lead capital and manufacturing improvement initiatives, including research, justification, budgeting input, reporting, and coordination with senior leadership. Monitor and improve engineering KPIs tied to production efficiency, product quality, cosmetic standards, and launch performance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. Nine or more years of engineering experience in aluminum casting and machining, with demonstrated understanding of both foundry and machine shop operations. Proven experience leading cross functional teams, managing multiple projects, and driving measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Working knowledge of process management and manufacturing methods and procedures, including documentation discipline and technical standards. Experience supporting ISO based quality systems, including root cause, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification. Strong critical thinking, decision making, accountability, planning, and communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office and strong documentation practices. Preferred Skills Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Ten or more years of engineering experience in aluminum casting and machining. Experience leading Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives in a high volume automotive or industrial manufacturing environment. Demonstrated success leading NPI and process validation efforts in a production setting. Pay range and compensation package Salary range is $140,000 to $150,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. The plant environment may include foundry conditions such as fumes or airborne particles, noise, vibration, extreme weather exposure, and moving mechanical parts. Personal protective equipment is required when entering the plant, including ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toe boots. Disposable masks are optional. Physical requirements This role is mostly sedentary with occasional standing and walking. You must be able to use hands and arms for handling, reaching, and working with documentation and equipment. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching is required. You must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
