Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 15 years of experience in software engineering, with 8 years in a technical engineering role. 10 years of experience in engineering leadership.
Preferred qualifications:
Deep understanding of application server stacks and developer ecosystems. Proven ability to lead large-scale platform migrations or architecturalshifts, particularly those involving the integration of emerging technologies like LLMs into developer workflows. Ability to distill complex technical and organizational challenges into clear, actionable narratives for senior leadership and partners. Ability to build alignment with partner infrastructure teams to execute collaboratively. Proven track record of leading large engineering organizations (50+) in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. Proven success in building collaborative and high-accountability team cultures that attract talent. About the job The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google's products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company. Responsibilities Lead the architectural evolution of the Server Platform to support AI-native workflows, focusing on reducing cognitive load for both human engineers and AI agents while maintaining Google's standards for scalability and trust. Manage and build a team with a culture of technical excellence, customer obsession, partnership, and bias-to-action. Work with cross-functional leaders to achieve alignment on strategy roadmaps, drive coordinated execution against strategic goals, and ensure the success of our customers. Optimize roadmap execution and dynamically adapt priorities to balance near-term customer needs with long-term strategic outcomes.
