Biomedical Engineering Manager- Fulltime-Onsite About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Engineering Manager to lead and oversee a hospital-based Clinical Engineering program. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, compliance, and lifecycle management of biomedical equipment and medical device technology across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, technical expertise in healthcare technology management, and a passion for supporting patient care through effective medical equipment operations. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of (4) Biomedical Equipment Technicians. Manage hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and staff development initiatives. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Coordinate staffing plans, training programs, and cross-functional support efforts. Clinical Engineering Operations Oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting of medical equipment. Ensure equipment readiness to support clinical operations and patient care. Maintain accurate service records and equipment documentation within the CMMS. Manage inventories of parts, tools, testing equipment, and service resources. Support emergency preparedness, downtime planning, and disaster recovery initiatives. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Ensure compliance with FDA, CMS, NFPA, DNV, state regulatory agencies, and accreditation requirements. Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards. Lead internal audits, external inspections, and accreditation activities. Monitor quality metrics and implement process improvement initiatives. Medical Device Cybersecurity & Risk Management Oversee cybersecurity practices for network-connected medical devices. Manage device recalls, safety alerts, and corrective action activities. Partner with Information Security, IT, Quality, and Patient Safety teams to mitigate risks. Ensure appropriate patching, vulnerability management, and device inventory controls. Capital Planning & Technology Management Partner with leadership to develop equipment budgets and long-term capital plans. Evaluate new technologies and recommend equipment purchases, upgrades, and replacements. Analyze equipment utilization, reliability, and lifecycle data to support strategic decision-making. Negotiate service agreements, warranties, and vendor contracts. Stakeholder Collaboration Serve as a liaison between clinical departments, IT, vendors, and executive leadership. Participate in Environment of Care (EOC) committees and hospital-wide initiatives. Support organizational goals related to patient safety, operational excellence, and quality care. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum 7 years of experience in biomedical equipment management, clinical engineering, or healthcare technology management. Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a hospital or healthcare setting. Experience with medical equipment maintenance, repair, lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance. Strong knowledge of FDA, CMS, NFPA, DNV, and healthcare technology standards. Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) or CHTM (Certified Healthcare Technology Manager) Must hold one of these certifications or be in progress Preferred CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician), CHTM (Certified Healthcare Technology Manager), or equivalent certification. Experience in acute care hospital environments. Experience with capital planning, equipment standardization, and program management. Knowledge of medical device integration, networking, and cybersecurity best practices. What We're Looking For Strong leadership and team-building skills.
