Engineering Manager - Manufacturing/Applications

Valex Corp is seeking an Engineering Manager of Manufacturing/Applications to join its engineering team in Ventura, CA. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for cost estimating, ERP BOM and router accuracy, product documentation, manufacturing engineering, and application support. This role drives operational excellence by ensuring robust work instructions, production tooling, and drawing control while supporting customer engagements, supplier visits, and cross‐functional project initiatives. The manager also partners closely with R&D to support new product development and continuous improvement. Key duties and qualifications are listed below: Key Duties Lead and mentor supervisors, cost estimators, manufacturing engineers, tooling engineers, and application engineers. Oversee creation, revision, and lifecycle control of product drawings, documentation, BOMs, routers, and work order instructions. Ensure accurate cost estimates, manufacturing readiness, and smooth production handoff. Manage production tooling design, procurement, qualification, and maintenance. Serve as a primary technical interface with customers on applications, manufacturability, and new opportunities. Travel as needed to customer and supplier sites for technical reviews, troubleshooting, or project support. Lead project management activities including scheduling, deliverables, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination. Support R&D with prototype builds, DFM input, tooling needs, and early manufacturing strategies. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in processes, documentation, productivity, and quality. Collaborate with operations, quality, supply chain, and sales to resolve technical or production issues. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent technical degree. 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, applications engineering, or product engineering, including leadership responsibility. Strong understanding of ERP systems, BOM structures, routing, and cost estimation principles. Proficiency with CAD and drawing standards (GD&T, revision control, configuration management). Demonstrated success managing engineers, technical staff, and cross-functional projects. Experience with tooling, fixturing, work instructions, and production process development. Excellent communication skills and customer-facing professionalism. Ability to travel for supplier and customer engagements. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities. Must be able to work in the USA without company sponsorship. This is a regular, full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $120k/yr to $170k/yr DOE, plus incentive.
