Job Description
Electrical Project ManagerPosition Overview We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Project Manager to lead and deliver electrical construction projects across commercial, multifamily, industrial and missioncritical sectors. The role combines technical electrical expertise (power distribution, switchgear, MCC, fire alarm, low voltage, solar, EV charging) with construction management skills (designbuild, new construction, renovations, expansions). The Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality control, safety and stakeholder communication to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and to code (NEC and applicable standards).Key ResponsibilitiesLead electrical construction projects from conceptual design through closeout across commercial, multifamily, industrial, data center, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food/beverage and municipal sectors.
Manage project budgets, forecasts and cost control; drive value engineering and contract negotiations with owners, GCs and subcontractors.
Develop and maintain project schedules, resource allocation plans and critical path activities using project scheduling tools.
Coordinate designbuild and designassist efforts with engineers, MEP teams and architects to translate design into constructible, codecompliant electrical systems.
Oversee installation and commissioning of power distribution systems, switchgear, motor control centers (MCC), inplant distribution, generators, UPS, fire alarm systems, lowvoltage/data systems, fiber optic cabling and EV charging stations.
Supervise field teams including superintendents, master and journeyman electricians, subcontractors and vendors; provide direction, mentoring and performance management.
Implement and enforce quality control, testing and commissioning protocols; manage punch lists and ensure timely closeout and turnover.
Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, federal requirements, OSHA and client specifications; manage permitting and inspection processes.
Identify, assess and mitigate project risks; manage change orders, claims and schedule recovery plans.
Communicate project status, risks and financials to stakeholders and executive leadership; lead project meetings and prepare progress reports.
Coordinate emergency repairs, maintenance support and O&M handover for facilities including WWTP, battery plants and manufacturing lines.
Drive continuous improvement by tracking lessons learned, productivity metrics and supply chain performance; support preconstruction estimating and bids.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 7+ years of progressive electrical construction/project management experience in electrical contracting or construction management; experience with multiproject portfolios preferred.
Handson knowledge of electrical systems: power distribution, switchgear, MCCs, motor control, grounding, transformers, breakers, generating systems, instrumentation and lowvoltage systems.
Experience with fire alarm systems, fiber optic cabling and splicing, EV charging infrastructure and solar system installations a plus.
Proven experience in commercial, multifamily, data center, industrial, manufacturing (including semiconductor, automotive, food/beverage), healthcare, education, municipal and federal projects.
Familiarity with
Strong skills in budgeting, estimating, scheduling (MS Project, Primavera or similar), resource allocation and financial reporting.
Demonstrated leadership managing superintendents, foremen, journeyman and apprentice electricians; safetyfirst mindset with OSHA 30 preferred.
Experience with designbuild delivery methods, contract negotiation and change management.
Certifications preferred: Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician license, PMP, NICET, or equivalent trade/license credentials.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to present to owners, architects, and executive teams.
Ability to travel to job sites, manage multiple concurrent projects and respond to emergency field issues; valid drivers license.
