Job Description

Contracts Engineer E ngā iwi, e ngā karangatanga huri noa i te motu, tēnei te mihi atu ki a koutou katoa. He īnoi tēnei ki a koe. Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi About the team | Ko te rōpū nei Our team is responsible for ensuring that Council projects and physical works contracts (including water, stormwater, landscape, building, structures, sewer and roading work) are managed effectively. Our focus is to ensure the delivery of the Council's Capital Programme. About the role | Ko te mahi nei Working within our Professional & Technical Services Unit, our Contract Supervisors deal directly with the contractor on a regular basis to keep the construction on time, to budget and scope. This role will mainly focus on Roading and Transport related structures (retaining walls) OR Three Waters horizontal construction capital projects (potable water, sewer and stormwater). The focus will be determined by the preferred candidates experience and strengths. You will play an important role in dealing with any community concerns while construction is taking place and often be involved in tender evaluations. A snapshot of your responsibilities include: Ensuring that Council projects and physical works contracts are managed efficiently, while supporting the delivery of a significant portion of the Council's annual construction expenditure as listed in the Long-Term Plan. Auditing, on behalf of the Asset Units, of works to be vested in the council asset including maintenance and consent work relating to water, stormwater, landscape, building, structural, sewer or roading. About you | Ko Koe Tēnei You'll be a team player, not afraid to deal with issues, and have experience building and maintaining relationships with important stakeholders and contractors. You'll also have familiarity with industry best practice e.g. building and civil engineering construction standards (NZS 3910 and 3916). To be successful you will have: A qualification aligned to Civil Engineering, and/or with extensive experience in one or more of the areas of three waters or roading / transport related structures Practical application, with experience in contracting or working alongside contractors Demonstrated ability to monitor costs and work within budgets.
