What We're Looking For:
Michael Baker International is seeking a Deputy Bridge Group Leader / Senior Project Manager to join our Bridge Practice in Lakewood, Colorado. This role is ideal for an experienced bridge engineering leader who enjoys delivering complex transportation projects while developing and mentoring high-performing teams. The successful candidate will lead engineers and designers, ensure technical excellence and client satisfaction, support business development efforts, and help shape the strategic direction of the Bridge group-working within a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on professional growth.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead project contracting and execution in coordination with regional and local leadership.
  • Support business development efforts by pursuing new work, growing backlog, and managing client relationships across Colorado and the West Region.
  • Oversee design and plan production for bridge projects delivered via design-bid-build, design-build, CM/GC, and progressive design-build.
  • Develop project work plans, staffing strategies, and coordinate workshare or recruitment as needed.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews while mentoring, training, and developing staff.
  • Coordinate with other Project Managers to balance workloads and staffing.
  • Help set the strategic direction of the Bridge group and increase market presence through professional associations, conferences, publications, and industry involvement.

Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • 12-15+ years of experience in Bridge Design / Structures Engineering
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience preferred
  • Master's or PhD preferred (may substitute for 1-4 years of experience)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent engineering judgment and bridge engineering expertise
  • Experience and established relationships with CDOT, City and County of Denver, and other regional agencies
  • Intermountain West DOT experience strongly preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Colorado (or ability to obtain)
Compensation:
The approximate compensation range for this position is $150,000-$225,000 to per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
