As part of the Engineering and Technology Raptor Avionics Organization at Lockheed Martin Space, our team is passionate about developing test systems that ensure mission success for spacecraft and ground systems. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead engineering projects and initiatives for spacecraft subsystem test and engineering activities. You will serve as a primary liaison between program teams, internal engineering staff, and stakeholders, ensuring project objectives are met on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical requirements. This role provides the opportunity to drive project execution, facilitate team performance, implement Agile practices, and mentor junior engineers while directly influencing program success. What will you do as a new hire? You will independently lead project planning, execution, and coordination with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include creating detailed project schedules, developing estimates, tracking metrics, facilitating team meetings, and ensuring all project documentation is complete and accurate. You will act as the main point of contact for program teams, motivate and enable your team, manage risks, coordinate status and tag-up meetings, and support digital transformation and process improvement initiatives. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to team efficiency, process improvements, and program-level decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Lead project planning, scheduling, and execution for engineering projects.
- Develop and manage cost, resource, and time estimates; monitor and report progress.
- Serve as the primary liaison between program teams, engineers, technicians, and stakeholders.
- Facilitate Agile practices, including Scrum ceremonies, backlog management, and sprint planning.
- Lead daily standups, status meetings, and project reviews; communicate project status, risks, and metrics to leadership.
- Ensure project documentation, including schedules, reports, action items, and lessons learned, is accurate and maintained.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Mentor junior engineers and project staff; provide guidance on project execution and engineering processes.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities, including procurement, fabrication, and lab/test support.
- Support digital transformation initiatives, process improvement efforts, and team efficiency projects.
- Drive project performance and ensure alignment with technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience leading projects or significant project responsibilities in an engineering or technical environment.
- Experience developing schedules, estimates, metrics tracking, and reporting.
- Understanding of engineering workflows, lab/test processes, and/or technical documentation.
- U.
S. citizenship required.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to lead engineering projects, including cross-functional coordination and team facilitation.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and experience leading ceremonies and backlog management.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Smartsheet).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or team members.
- Ability to identify and mitigate project risks and implement corrective actions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with reporting project status, metrics, and risks to management and stakeholders.
- Ability to drive digital transformation, process improvement, and team efficiency initiatives.
- Strong organizational, coordination, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, enable, and lead a team to meet project objectives.
- Understanding of spacecraft subsystem test, lab, or engineering processes is preferred.

The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
