Further, this role also serves as trusted advisor for site‑level Process Excellence (Continuous Improvement) initiatives . The Senior Manager will own the engineering strategy for the Largo site , ensuring alignment with business objectives, operational excellence goals, and regulatory requirements. This individual will lead and develop high‑performing engineering teams, drive transformational improvements, and partner with site and enterprise leadership to advance capabilities in precision machining, automation, and scalable manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Engineering Strategy & Site Leadership Develop and execute the engineering strategy for the Largo site , with strong emphasis on the Precision Machining Factory Serve as the senior engineering leader for machining operations, providing technical, strategic, and operational direction Align engineering roadmaps with safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth objectives Act as a key member of the site leadership team, influencing decisions that impact manufacturing performance and long‑term capability Precision Machining & Advanced Manufacturing Lead engineering support for precision machining processes , including equipment, tooling, fixtures, automation, and process optimization Drive standardization, scalability, and robustness across machining operations Champion adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, digital manufacturing tools, and automation where appropriate Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement (Advisory Role) Serve as a site‑level advisor and thought partner for Process Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and CI leaders to identify, prioritize, and execute high‑impact improvement opportunities Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and problem‑solving methodologies to deliver sustainable improvements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery Mentor leaders and engineers in structured problem solving, data‑driven decision‑making, and continuous improvement behaviors Leadership & Talent Development Lead, coach, and develop manufacturing engineering managers, engineers, and technicians Build a strong engineering talent pipeline and succession plan for the Largo site Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, inclusivity, and technical excellence Set clear expectations, performance goals, and development plans for the engineering organization New Product Introduction (NPI) & Lifecycle Support Provide senior engineering leadership for new product introductions , ensuring manufacturing readiness and smooth transitions to production Partner closely with R D, Quality, and Operations to integrate new technologies and processes Support product and process lifecycle management, including design changes, capacity expansion, and cost reduction initiatives Quality, Compliance & Risk Management Ensure engineering processes comply with FDA regulations, ISO 13485 , and CONMED quality system requirements Oversee development and maintenance of robust process documentation (Work Instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, validations) Support audits, inspections, CAPAs, and continuous quality system improvement Capital Project & Resource Management Lead site‑level engineering input for capital planning related to CNC machining, automation, and infrastructure Manage capital projects end‑to‑end, including equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and validation Ensure effective prioritization and deployment of engineering resources to maximize business impact Metrics, Governance & Communication Define and monitor engineering KPIs and performance metrics aligned with site and enterprise goals Communicate progress, risks, and opportunities effectively to site leadership and functional stakeholders Leverage data and analytics to drive decisions and track measurable results Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master's degree preferred) 8+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in medical device manufacturing 5+ years of people management and leadership experience, including managing managers or senior engineers 8+ years experience in CNC machining , precision manufacturing, and process optimization Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated leadership in FDA‑regulated, ISO 13485 environments Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification Experience leading site‑level or factory‑level engineering strategy Background in automation, digital manufacturing, or Industry 4.0 initiatives Experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and influencing without direct authority Proficiency in CAD systems, ERP/MES platforms (e.g., SAP) and data analysis tools Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and change‑leadership skills
