Commercial Assistant Chief Engineer (Class A Office Buildings)

Unlimited PTO, comprehensive medical/dental/vision coverage, and additional employee benefits Overview We are seeking a highly accomplished and results-driven Commercial Assistant Chief Engineer to oversee engineering operations across Class A office buildings. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of building performance, tenant comfort, system reliability, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and a proactive, service-oriented mindset aligned with premium commercial real estate environments. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and maintenance professionals, promoting a culture of excellence, responsiveness, and accountability Oversee all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems, ensuring optimal performance in a Class A office environment Manage and optimize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for accurate tracking and execution of maintenance activities Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and extend asset life Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, codes, and industry standards Respond to and resolve tenant service requests with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and experience Troubleshoot and optimize building systems using advanced diagnostics and PLCs where applicable Conduct routine inspections and proactively identify and resolve operational issues Manage high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems safely and effectively Partner with property management, tenants, and vendors on capital projects, renovations, and system upgrades Interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to support maintenance and repair activities Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to system performance, response times, and operational efficiency Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance building performance and reduce operating costs Qualifications Proven experience in facilities or building engineering, preferably within Class A office or commercial real estate environments Strong leadership and supervisory experience with the ability to manage and develop diverse teams Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems within high-performance commercial buildings Hands-on experience with CMMS platforms and maintenance planning Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, including experience with PLC systems preferred Solid understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong tenant-service orientation Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment Disclaimer This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position and does not represent a complete list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications.
