Direct design reviews and approval gates for custom, high-value, and complex projects prior to production release. Drive design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-cost initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce material cost, and enhance margins. Partner with Sales and Commercial teams to translate customer requirements into manufacturable, costed engineering solutions. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment between engineering design and production capability across multiple facilities. Lead development efforts for connected and technology-enabled product initiatives, including external vendor and contract manufacturer management. Manage engineering partners, electronics/firmware vendors, and product development roadmaps as needed. Build, lead, and mentor the engineering team, establishing performance expectations, structure, and technical standards. Serve as the senior engineering representative to executive leadership, customers, and external partners. Drive standardization and continuous improvement across all engineering and product development processes. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. 10+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial product environment. Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and driving technical execution. Strong expertise in engineering design control processes including BOM management, revision control, and change management. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent) with strong sheet metal and mechanical design capability. Deep understanding of design-for-manufacturing principles and cost optimization strategies. Experience working in ERP-integrated engineering environments (BOMs, product configuration, or PLM systems). Demonstrated ability to lead complex, high-value engineering projects from concept through production release.
