Description:
You will be the Engineering Aide - Design Assurance & Metrics for the Hardware Design & Analysis organization within Missiles & Fire Control (MFC). Our team safeguards the health of the design portfolio by collecting, analyzing and visualizing key development metrics, enabling leadership to make data driven decisions that accelerate delivery of world class defense systems. What You Will Be Doing As the Engineering Aide you will be responsible for extracting design phase data from program systems, calculating cycle time and design reuse metrics, and turning those numbers into clear, actionable visual dashboards. You will work closely with senior managers and cross functional program teams to standardize the way design assurance findings are tracked across the organization.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Pulling design phase data from multiple program databases and tools under guidance from senior managers.
- Computing cycle time, design reuse and other key performance indicators for each hardware project.
- Building and maintaining monthly metrics dashboards that highlight trends, risks and opportunities for senior leadership.
- Assisting in the development and upkeep of standard templates and processes for tracking design assurance findings across programs.
- Collaborating with engineers, program managers and quality personnel to ensure metric definitions are consistent and meaningful.
- Supporting the preparation of short form briefings and reports that communicate metric insights to diverse audiences.
- Identifying opportunities to automate data collection tasks and improve reporting efficiency.
- Performing ad hoc analysis as requested to answer specific program or portfolio questions.
- Contributing ideas that enhance the overall design assurance framework and promote continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or having completed a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Systems, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution — or equivalent Associate's degree in engineering technology plus 1+ year of relevant experience.
- Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups, charts, pivot tables).
- Demonstrated ability to organize, analyze, and present data clearly to a technical audience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with periodic check-ins.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Active enrollment in a BS program in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with sophomore standing or higher.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Coursework or hands-on experience in statistics, data analysis, or quality / process engineering.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI / dashboarding tools.
- Experience with Python, VBA, or MATLAB for data manipulation and basic automation.
- Familiarity with
PLM / PDM
systems (Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, or equivalent).
- Exposure to engineering processes: design reviews (PDR / CDR), design-assurance gates, FMEA, root-cause analysis.
- Experience handling engineering data with discretion and confidentiality.
- Prior internship, co-op, or contract experience supporting an engineering team — especially in defense, aerospace, automotive, or other regulated industries.

The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
