Job Description
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Transportation Practice Lead to establish, grow, and lead our transportation practice in Stuart, Florida, serving the Treasure Coast and northern South Florida markets. This role is ideal for a transportation leader with strong technical credentials, proven client relationships, and a passion for building a regional practice focused on FDOT, county, and municipal transportation infrastructure.
The Practice Lead will be responsible for business development, client management, team leadership, and delivery oversight, while serving as the face of the firm across the Treasure Coast.
Key ResponsibilitiesPractice & Market GrowthBuild and lead the Treasure Coast transportation practice, with emphasis on FDOT District 4, Martin County, St. Lucie County, and local municipalities.
Develop and implement strategic growth plans aligned with regional and firmwide goals.
Identify, pursue, and win new transportation projects, including task work, stand‑alone projects, and on‑call contracts.
Lead or support proposal development efforts, teaming strategies, and client interviews.
Establish the firm's presence in the Stuart and Treasure Coast transportation market.
Client & Relationship ManagementServe as a trusted advisor to county and state transportation clients.
Maintain and grow existing client relationships while developing new agency connections.
Represent the firm at industry events, professional organizations, and public meetings.
Coordinate with subconsultants and teaming partners to support project pursuits and delivery.
Technical & Project LeadershipProvide technical oversight and strategic direction for transportation projects, including:
Roadway and roadway reconstructionDrainage and stormwater designTraffic and safety improvementsPD&E and planning supportEnsure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
Support design‑build and alternative delivery pursuits as applicable.
Team Leadership & MentorshipRecruit, develop, and mentor a high‑performing local transportation team.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and growth‑oriented culture.
Coordinate resources with other offices to support project delivery and expansion.
Provide career development guidance to junior and mid‑level staff.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required.12+ years of transportation engineering experience.
Demonstrated experience with FDOT and county transportation projects, preferably within FDOT District 4.Proven ability to support or lead business development efforts and grow client relationships.
Experience leading project teams and supporting public‑sector transportation work.
Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
Preferred QualificationsExisting relationships within Martin County, St. Lucie County, FDOT, or nearby municipalities.
Prior experience as a Practice Leader, Office Leader, or Market Sector Leader.
Familiarity with Treasure Coast transportation needs and growth trends.
