OF THE JOB
The Quality Engineering Leader is responsible for defining, governing, and scaling quality engineering capabilities across Owens Corning's digital product landscape. This role operates within an embedded quality assurance (QA) delivery model that is firmly supported by centralized standards and best practices, guaranteeing quality is integrated into every phase of product development. By championing a proactive approach to quality, this role ensures that issues are identified and addressed early, resulting in more robust and reliable digital solutions. Leading multi-discipline quality teams, including manual QA, automation, and SDET/Test Engineering, the leader fosters a collaborative and high-performing environment. These teams work in close partnership with Engineering, Product, and DevOps leaders to deliver predictable, high-confidence outcomes that meet both technical and business requirements. The role is instrumental in navigating complex challenges, aligning quality objectives with enterprise goals, and ensuring that testing processes adapt to evolving technological landscapes. This position focuses on web applications, web pages, APIs, and mobile solutions. Responsibilities include building a scalable foundation that supports current and future business needs, including embedded systems and Internet of Things (IoT) quality. This role involves developing strong partnerships throughout the organization, including Engineering, Product, DevOps, and business teams, to ensure quality outcomes are aligned with enterprise objectives. By staying ahead of industry trends and integrating outside-in market insights, the leader contributes to the continuous improvement of enterprise quality capability, positioning Owens Corning as a leader in digital excellence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build strong partnerships with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and business stakeholders to align quality outcomes with enterprise objectives.
  • Understand Owens Corning's business strategies and how digital platforms enable growth and customer value.
  • Apply outside-in market insights and best-in-class quality practices to continuously improve enterprise quality capability.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Owens Corning specific business processes and operations locally and globally Developing and Executing Strategy This role is pivotal in developing and executing strategies that enhance the quality engineering capabilities across Owens Corning, ensuring the success and growth of the organization through:
  • Define and execute the enterprise Quality Engineering strategy aligned to an embedded QA operating model with centralized standards.
  • Establish and govern standards for test strategy, automation, coverage models, quality gates, and risk-based testing.
  • Ensure quality practices scale across sprint teams without creating delivery bottlenecks.
  • Evolve quality engineering capabilities to support future embedded and IoT domains.
  • Set strategic direction for automation across web, API, and mobile layers.
  • Ensure automation delivers fast, reliable, and actionable feedback within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Improve automation maintainability, reduce false negatives, and optimize return on investment (ROI). Lead and Influencing in the Function
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department and cross-functionally; encourage others to identify areas of waste (process, time, etc.); ideate and execute action plans to create productivity
  • Create an inclusive environment where the team looks at you as a highly regarded leader and mentor
  • Define and operate a release readiness framework that supports informed, data-driven decisions,
  • Ensure risk-based testing informs prioritization and release conversations.
  • Establish feedback loops from production and customer signals into test strategy.
  • Define outcome-oriented quality metrics aligned to delivery confidence and stability.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on quality trends and risk posture.
  • Drive continuous improvement across quality and delivery processes. Lead and Develop Talent

  • Ensure direct reports have meaningful development objectives and robust development plans
  • Be engaged in personal development and stay updated on the latest quality engineering trends and best practices.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing quality engineering organization.
  • Establish clear career paths and skill expectations across QA, Automation, and SDET roles.
