Senior Director, Engineering - Capital The Opportunity The Senior Director, Engineering serves as the senior functional leader for engineering within the Corrugated Division, responsible for engineering strategy, standards, and technical governance across the network. The role enables safe, predictable, and high-quality execution of a large capital portfolio representing 200-250 projects and $250-$300M in annual capital spend. This role operates as a peer to Capital Portfolio Management and is accountable for how projects are executed, while not owning capital prioritization or funding decisions. Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness Lead the engineering function through the Director of Engineering Set expectations for safety, execution rigor, technical excellence, and development Build a scalable organization with strong succession planning Engineering Strategy, Standards & Technical Governance Define and continuously improve engineering standards and specifications Ensure consistent, fit-for-purpose application across all sites Serve as the senior technical authority for complex decisions Equipment Innovation & Technology Advancement Set a disciplined innovation agenda aligned with business outcomes Oversee evaluation and piloting of new technologies Translate successful pilots into repeatable standards Capital Execution Enablement Align engineering capacity with the approved capital portfolio Identify execution risks and feasibility considerations Partner with Capital Portfolio Management without owning prioritization Safety, EHS & Compliance Reinforce strong safety and process safety culture Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements Hold leaders accountable for safety performance What You Need to Succeed Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; advanced degree preferred 15+ years of engineering leadership experience in capital-intensive manufacturing Proven experience leading engineering leaders and project organizations Strong knowledge of industrial safety and regulatory requirements Ability to lead through influence, complexity, and scale What Success Looks Like High-performing engineering organization with clear accountability Consistent application of standards across capital projects Safe and predictable execution of approved capital investments Strong partnership with Capital Portfolio Management and Operations What We Offer Opportunity to lead engineering at division scale Meaningful impact on safety, capital effectiveness, and performance Collaborative senior leadership environment Competitive compensation and benefits Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
